Africa Day, Sunday August 14, 2022

Our African brothers and sisters invite you to join them in the annual Africa Day celebration on August 14th at 12:30pm. It is one of the most beautiful and exuberant celebrations of the year. The faith and joy of the African Church is a gift to all of us. Cardinal Wilton Gregory will join us as the celebrant and homilist. Even he doesn’t want to miss this!

Following the mass, there is a multi-cultural event of food, fashion and dance, with many of the 55 countries in Africa represented. (Each year I am given clothes from one of the countries to wear, see below) The map of Africa in the vestibule indicates the many countries our parishioners come from. If you are African, please check out the Africa Union 55 ministry established to help welcome those newly arrived.
